![]() ![]() This isn’t that big of a deal because all key communities will have enough time to get ready for the biggest tournament at Evo, which isn’t happening until August. Still, the inexperience on Cygames’ part was at least partly responsible. XSeed’s communication efforts tend to be pitiful, and they seemingly enjoy providing release dates at the last minute. There was also little communication about the western release dates to fans before the Japanese release, though it’s tough to tell whether this was the fault of Cygames or the western publishers involved - or both of them. XSeed published it in NA, while Marvelous Europe is handling the European and Australian versions. The release gap was partly due to Cygames not having western offices they could easily coordinate with. The wait has been especially rough for Europeans and Australians, who have to hear about how solid the game is while waiting impatiently to play it. (It would also be ideal if they could play with each other online, but the netplay quality is a separate issue.) The Japanese version released on February 6th, but it took until March 3rd for the North American version to arrive, while the European and Australian versions will come on March 27th ( though without the previously-announced Premium Edition). For fighting games, it’s best when they arrive in every major territory at the same time, so their online and offline communities can grow alongside each other. GBVS was one of the few not to release simultaneously worldwide, and was the biggest not to. ![]() But the release was one of the messiest for a fighting game in this console generation, thanks to the sheer confusion and inconsistent arrival schedules around it. Versus is reportedly a solid game, coming courtesy of the fine folks at Guilty Gear and Blazblue-developer Arc System Works. ![]() They were unlikely to get everything about this release right because of their inexperience, despite increasing in size after the Granblue Fantasy mobile title became a massive phenomenon. Granblue Fantasy: Versus is Cygames’ first fighting game, and one of the company’s first games outside the mobile realm. ![]()
